Several vertical multi-stage centrifugal pumps (high-pressure fire pressure stabilization pumps) purchased in 2011 have their motors connected to the pumps via elastic couplings; the original design did not include coupling guards. May I ask what the design basis is? Are there still vertical multi-stage centrifugal pumps without coupling guards?

Well, how to put it? Following the standards strictly, many pumps fail to meet them. Just ask the manufacturer to bring it along. There are now vertical multi-stage centrifugal pumps without coupling guards, and horizontal centrifugal pumps also come in versions without protective guards.
The safety supervision agency imposes fines as soon as it sees it, without even giving a chance for rectification!
