After prolonged use, the performance of centrifugal pumps deteriorates. We have a canned motor pump that has been in use for over 10 years. In the past two years, we’ve noticed that it either lacks flow when high head is required, or lacks high head when flow is needed. However, after disassembling the pump for inspection, no abnormalities were found. It is determined that slight wear of the impeller is causing a decrease in head. This slight wear needs to be addressed more strictly, especially as it has an impact on centrifugal pumps. If possible, it is recommended to replace the impeller and try again.
