The 90MPa motor-driven high-pressure liquid hydrogen pump, independently developed by Hangyang, completed a 4-hour continuous performance test under liquid hydrogen conditions in the presence of experts from the Beijing Aerospace Test Technology Institute and Zhejiang Mechanical and Electrical Testing Institute Co., Ltd. The actual test results showed that it was able to maintain a liquid hydrogen flow rate of over 100 kg/h at an outlet pressure of 90 MPa. This achievement marks a historic leap for our country in the field of ultra-high pressure and deep cryogenic hydrogen energy equipment, shifting from following others to taking the lead; it also successfully fills the gap in domestic motor-driven high-pressure liquid hydrogen pumps. It is worth noting that the testing system also incorporates a high-pressure differential liquid hydrogen control valve developed independently by Hangyang. This control valve enables precise regulation of flow rate over a wide range of pressures, from 90 MPa to 0.1 MPa, and exhibits excellent stability and consistency under complex dynamic load conditions; it is the first control valve in China to pass tests involving liquid hydrogen at a pressure difference of 90 MPa. Breaking through the bottlenecks hindering the large-scale use of hydrogen energy in China: High-pressure liquid hydrogen pumps are the core equipment in high-pressure hydrogen refueling stations, and they represent a key technological area in which countries compete to make advances in hydrogen-related equipment. It is necessary to stably pressurize liquid hydrogen to 90 MPa in an extremely low temperature environment of -253°C, and the operational reliability of the equipment directly affects the safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of the hydrogen refueling station. However, liquid hydrogen possesses characteristics such as ultra-low temperatures, high vaporization tendency, easy leakage, a large expansion ratio, and flammability and explosiveness, which pose severe challenges to its transportation and pressurization. These issues have long hindered the large-scale commercial application of hydrogen energy, and they are recognized as critical bottlenecks in the industry. To overcome technical barriers, the R&D team successfully addressed a series of key technical challenges, including research on hydrogen-facing materials, precise heat management, dynamic control of slide valves, low-temperature and high-pressure sealing technologies, and high-precision motor drive adaptation. The successful test of a 90MPa motor-driven high-pressure liquid hydrogen pump has accelerated the commercialization of high-pressure liquid hydrogen, fully activating the ultra-high pressure liquid hydrogen industry chain. This marks the overcoming of one of the most challenging hurdles in China’s hydrogen energy industry chain, which covers production, storage, transportation, refueling, and utilization; liquid hydrogen refueling stations now have a \"Chinese core\".
