Coupling alignment (also known as centering) is a key step in the installation and maintenance of rotating machinery; its accuracy directly determines the stability of equipment operation, vibration levels, noise levels, as well as the service life of wear-prone components such as bearings, seals, and the couplings themselves. The key control parameters are the radial displacement deviation (Δr, in mm) and the end-face angular displacement deviation (Δa, in mm/m, that is, the difference in end-face clearance per meter of axial length). The precision requirements depend mainly on the equipment’s speed, the type of coupling, the operating load (heavy load/light load), and the precision grade of the equipment; adjustments must also be made based on practical experience on-site, taking into account both compliance with standards and practical feasibility.
