Are these balance beams and frames designed by the equipment manufacturing factories, or by design institutes? This discussion thread is good and practical. The scope can be expanded a bit: Were these balance beams and frames designed by the equipment manufacturing factory, by a design institute, or by the construction company?
Figure 1 shows the truss-type balance beam, which is composed of various steel sections, suspension plate, lugs, truss pivots, crossbeams, etc. It is characterized by a large distance between the lifting points of the load; therefore, a truss-type balance beam is required to increase stiffness and ensure the balance of the equipment being lifted, thereby preventing the lifting ropes from damaging the equipment.
Generally, lifting frame balance beams and similar components are designed and manufactured by the lifting and installation company.
Exactly, this can also be part of the modular construction series. Why don’t you modify the title and number and add it to your series?
The lifting company will provide some standard balance beams or balancing frames; some of these beams can be removed to adjust their length, thereby meeting the requirements of different lifting equipment
In the past, construction companies were responsible for most of the design work, and designs were created based on experience; but it seems that this approach no longer works these days. Now, there is a requirement that lifting equipment must come with design drawings and approval procedures, and construction companies are not able to meet this requirement. Of course, there are some construction companies that do have design capabilities.
If it is designed by the installation unit, are qualifications required? What standards should be referred to in design?
There are no specific qualification requirements; one only needs to have the ability for structural design and stress analysis, as well as the appropriate technical personnel.

This lifting frame or balance beam is different from specialized equipment such as lifting devices and wire rope rigging; there is no known requirement to obtain any certification for it.
