Regarding the 170,000-ton bisphenol A production project of South Asia Plastics, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the procedures for approving environmental impact assessments of construction projects, after consideration, the Ningbo Ecology and Environment Bureau intends to issue approval opinions on the environmental impact assessment documents for this said project. To ensure the seriousness and fairness of the approval decisions and to safeguard the public’s environmental rights and interests, the basic information regarding the environmental impact assessment documents for the construction project is hereby announced. The company plans to invest 1.24 billion yuan to build a new bisphenol A production facility with an annual capacity of 170,000 tons, using existing land; this facility will include units for the main reaction, raw material recovery, crystallization and recrystallization, purification, granulation, as well as units for the recovery of bisphenol A. It will also feature 6 storage tanks for intermediates and auxiliary materials, 32 silos for finished products, a temporary storage area for hazardous waste, and gas-liquid incinerators. After the project was implemented, the company’s total capacity for bisphenol A reached 320,000 tons per year.
