We invite everyone to share their insights and engage in discussions, to cheer for Made in China and to support the development of chemical processing equipment! ****************** On December 28, 2013, the \"2,500 cubic meter stainless steel double-layer cryogenic sphere tank for liquefied natural gas (LNG)\" built by China First Metallurgical Group Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China MCC, for Zhangjiagang CIMC Sinotruk Cryogenic Equipment Co., Ltd., passed the inspections conducted by the project owner and third-party representatives regarding various technical specifications and quality standards, meeting all required requirements. It marks the successful completion of the country’s largest and first 2,500 cubic meter stainless-steel double-layer low-temperature LNG sphere tank. 　　This project is one of the key projects under the **\"West-to-East Gas Transmission\" initiative; it belongs to category III atmospheric pressure vessels, with a structural design that consists of 62 stainless steel inner LNG tanks in a mixed configuration, along with 78 carbon steel outer tanks in a mixed configuration. The inner tank has a diameter of 17 meters, a wall thickness of 20 millimeters, and is designed for temperatures of -196 degrees Celsius. The most notable feature of this spherical tank is that it is a double-layer spherical tank; that is, a stainless steel spherical tank is enclosed by an additional carbon steel spherical tank. The distance between the two layers is 1.32 meters, and the space between them is filled with perlite to achieve thermal insulation. Its main function is to liquefy natural gas for storage when demand is low, and to convert it back into a gaseous state to be supplied to the pipeline network when demand is high, thereby resolving the contradictions in urban energy use. Spherical tanks require high standards in terms of construction techniques; they are currently the largest LNG cryogenic spherical tanks made of austenitic stainless steel in China, with the thickest shell plates.
