Recently, the basic design review for the first batch of key projects in Guangxi Petrochemical’s integration and transformation project, designed by Global Beijing Company, has been completed. Global Beijing Company served as the overall project manager for Guangxi Petrochemical’s integration and transformation project, as well as responsible for the main design work and basic design of facilities such as ethylene plants, PO/SM plants, and polypropylene plants. The process package, basic design, and overall design of this project are closely interlinked, resulting in a tight design timeline and heavy workload. Global Beijing utilized its strengths to ensure the successful implementation of the project; it completed the overall project design within 2 months and delivered the ethylene process package within 3 months. The Guangxi Petrochemical Integration and Upgrading Project is located in the Jingu area of the Petrochemical Park within the Qinzhou Port Economic and Technological Development Zone. With a total investment of around 30.5 billion yuan, it is a major project as part of the planning for the petrochemical industry; it also represents a strategic initiative by China National Petroleum Corporation to shift toward a model that emphasizes chemical processing over oil production. This includes 14 chemical processing units such as a new ethylene cracking unit with an annual capacity of 1.2 million tons, as well as 2 refining units for diesel adsorption and dearomatization with an annual capacity of 2 million tons. It also involves the construction and renovation of certain refining unit facilities, along with corresponding utility, storage, transportation, and auxiliary production facilities. The main products manufactured are polyethylene, polypropylene, synthetic rubber, and ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA). The project is scheduled to be handed over in phases by the end of 2024, with full completion and operation starting in 2025. It is reported that the 14 sets of chemical processing units include an ethylene plant with a capacity of 200,000 tons per year, a pyrolysis gasoline hydrogenation/styrene extraction complex plant with a capacity of 550,000 tons per year, a butadiene extraction plant with a capacity of 180,000 tons per year, MTBE/butene-1 plants with capacities of 100,000/60,000 tons per year respectively, an aromatic hydrocarbon extraction plant with a capacity of 350,000 tons per year, a full-density polyethylene plant (FDPE) with a capacity of 400,000 tons per year, a high-density polyethylene plant (HDPE) with a capacity of 300,000 tons per year, a tubular ethylene-vinyl acetate plant (EVA) with a capacity of 300,000 tons per year, a batch-type ethylene-vinyl acetate plant (H-EVA) with a capacity of 100,000 tons per year, a polypropylene plant (PP) with a capacity of 400,000 tons per year, a hexene-1 plant with a capacity of 50,000 tons per year, a propylene oxide/styrene plant (PO/SM) with capacities of 270,000/600,000 tons per year respectively, a polystyrene plant (PS) with a capacity of 300,000 tons per year, and integrated styrene-butadiene rubber plants (SSBR/SBS) with capacities of 120,000/80,000 tons per year respectively.
