On April 25, the “150,000 tons per year CTL lubricant base oil production facility technical process package” developed by Ningxia Coal Industry Company passed the evaluation conducted by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation. The expert group, headed by Shu Xingtian, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, unanimously agreed that this process package possesses complete independent intellectual property rights and is ready for the next stage of basic engineering design. This technology was led by Ningxia Coal Industry Company, with the participation of institutions such as the Beijing Institute of Low-Carbon Clean Energy, Sinopec Guangzhou Engineering Co., Ltd., and China University of Petroleum (Beijing) in its development. This technology has developed heterogeneous dewaxing catalysts and refining catalysts with unique structures and excellent performance. It has created a new production process for CTL lubricant base oils using narrow fractions of Fischer-Tropsch wax, which meets the goals of increasing the value and diversity of coal chemical products. It can also help address the issue of China’s heavy reliance on imports for high-quality lubricant base oils. To date, 19 patents have been granted for this set of technologies, including 9 core invention patents.
