On May 22, 2023, the launch meeting for the **key research and development project “Design and Manufacturing Technology for High-Reliability High-Pressure Hydrogen Storage Vessels”**, led by Hefei General Machinery Research Institute Co., Ltd. and involving 10 other organizations including the China Special Equipment Inspection and Research Institute and Lanzhou Lanshi Heavy Equipment Co., Ltd., as well as a meeting to discuss the implementation plan, were held in Hefei. This project is a key special initiative under the **Key R&D Program for Hydrogen Energy Technology**. Addressing the critical needs for high-security, high-density, and low-cost hydrogen storage in hydrogen production plants and hydrogen refueling stations, this project focuses on the development of ultra-high strength and toughness steel plates, along with corresponding forgings and welding materials. It aims to overcome key technical challenges such as hydrogen storage vessel design based on risk and lifespan assessment, cold forming processes for thick-walled vessels with large curvatures, prevention of welding cold cracks and reheat cracks, as well as defect detection and repair. By creating highly reliable high-pressure hydrogen storage vessels, this project seeks to solve the key problems associated with large-scale hydrogen storage in China and promote the development of the country’s hydrogen energy industry. 、

In this way, it contributes to the development of a country strong in science and technology and in manufacturing.
