On October 12, the 300,000-ton/year polystyrene plant of the refining and chemical integration transformation project was officially put into operation. Wang Ke, the company’s Discipline Inspection Commission secretary, attended the commencement ceremony and announced the start of pile foundation construction. The device utilizes the second-generation polystyrene proprietary technology independently developed by Guangdong Huanyu Guangye Engineering Co., Ltd., which is part of China Huanyu Engineering Co., Ltd. It mainly includes process units such as mixing, polymerization, devolatilization, vacuum treatment, granulation, and hot oil processing, as well as auxiliary facilities for utility services. The facility has a total of 3 production lines: 1 line for general-purpose polystyrene (GPPS) products and 2 lines for impact-resistant polystyrene (HIPS) products. The capacity of each line is 100,000 tons per year, and the production lines can be switched between to manufacture different products. The annual operating hours are 8,000 hours, with an operational flexibility range of 60–110%. The facility was designed and constructed by Guangdong Huanyu Guangye Engineering Co., Ltd., with delivery expected on March 30, 2025.
Static devolatilization technology can be installed as a single-step or multi-step process. The number of steps depends on the yield of the polymer and the amount of volatiles to be removed. Based on the unique process concept of single-stage or multi-stage static devolatilization, volatiles can be effectively removed.
