On March 1, the project to remove bottlenecks and improve energy efficiency at Fushun Petrochemical Company’s 800,000 tons per year ethylene plant, whose project management is handled by Global Projects Company, officially commenced. This project adopts an IPMT integrated project management approach, carrying out bottleneck removal upgrades and energy efficiency improvements through the installation of new equipment, thereby providing a practical example for the green transformation of the traditional petrochemical industry. The components that are to be constructed first this time include key units such as the air separation nitrogen production system, air bath cooling system, and distillation tower system; they are integral parts of the utility systems. Once completed, they will provide gas power support for the major maintenance work scheduled for September this year. Project Status: On September 10, 2024, China Petroleum Fushun Petrochemical Company held a review meeting for the basic design of the project aimed at removing bottlenecks and improving energy efficiency in its 800,000 tons per year ethylene production facility. The nature of this project is renovation and expansion, with a total investment of 2,834,640,000 yuan. The construction site is located within the existing premises of the Olefin Plant at No. 1 Longteng Street, Dongzhou District, Fushun City, Liaoning Province. No additional land will be acquired; the Olefin Plant covers an area of 104.88 ha, while the Petroleum Machinery Plant covers an area of 40,667 m² (after the renovation, this area will be assigned to the Ethylene Department). The project will increase the production capacity of the ethylene plant at the olefin facility from 800,000 tons per year to 950,000 tons per year ； The butadiene extraction capacity was increased from 160,000 tons per year to 180,000 tons per year ； The production capacity of 1-butene was increased from 40,000 tons per year to 50,000 tons per year, while that of MTBE was increased from 80,000 tons per year to 100,000 tons per year. In addition, a 200,000-ton/year solution polymerization polyethylene plant will be built at the petroleum machinery factory (with its auxiliary facilities relying on the ethylene department) ； Partially modify the existing public and auxiliary facilities to accommodate the increased production capacity. The existing 160,000 t/a ethylene plant at the ethylene division will be demolished (the demolition work is included in this project), and the production capacity of the ethylene plant at the Fushun Petrochemical Branch of China National Petroleum Corporation will not increase after the renovation.
