On August 6, the first public notice regarding public participation in the environmental impact assessment of Guangdong Energy Group’s integrated demonstration project for converting biomass energy into green methanol was released. Project Name: Guangdong Energy Group Integrated Demonstration Project for Converting Biomass Energy into Green Methanol ； Project nature: New construction ； Project location: Plot No. 6, Donghai Island Petrochemical Industrial Park, Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province (north of Weiyi Road and west of Jingyi Road) ； Construction contents: This project plans to use biomass pellets as raw material, and produce green methanol through processes such as biomass gasification, ammonia removal, sulfur-tolerant shift reaction, and acidic gas removal. The annual production capacity is 100,000 tons of green methanol; the by-products include 888 tons of fusel oil per year, 5,040 tons of tar per year, 318 tons of sulfur per year, 1,760 tons of ammonia water per year, and 253,000 tons of industrial carbon dioxide per year. Project owner: Guangdong YueDian Zhanjiang Biomass Power Generation Co., Ltd. On February 24, 2025, Guangdong YueDian Zhanjiang Biomass Power Generation Co., Ltd. issued a notice regarding the results of the bidding process for the feasibility study related to the integrated demonstration project for converting biomass energy into green methanol under the Guangdong Energy Group. The winner of the bid was Sinopec Ningbo Engineering Co., Ltd. On May 15, 2025, the list of candidates shortlisted for the services related to the preparation of the project’s safety assessment report and environmental impact assessment report was made public. The first candidate in the safety assessment report is Guangdong Zhongjing Testing and Certification Co., Ltd. The first candidate in the bid for the environmental impact assessment report is Guangdong Yifang Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. On June 10, 2025, the results of the bidding for the technical consultation project on converting agricultural and forestry waste into green methanol at a capacity of 100,000 tons per year, carried out by Guangdong Energy Group Science and Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd., were announced. Winner of the bid: Shanghai Wenji Biotechnology Co., Ltd. Guangdong YueDian Zhanjiang Biomass Power Generation Co., Ltd., established in 2008 and a member of Hengjian Holdings, is located in Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province. It is an enterprise primarily engaged in the production and supply of electricity and heat. The registered capital of the enterprise is 621.04 million RMB.
