In the Weibei Coal Chemical Industry Park in Shaanxi, Pucheng Clean Energy Chemical Co., Ltd. has joined forces with the Shaanxi Coal Technology Research Institute to outline a complete path from technology research and development to industrial application, through two key technological breakthroughs: a pilot project for producing polyethylene wax using the ethylene synthesis method, and an industrial demonstration project for polyolefin elastomers (POR). On October 28, the announcement was made regarding the approval decision for the environmental impact assessment document of the pilot project aimed at producing polyethylene wax in quantities of 100 tons using the ethylene synthesis method, carried out by Pucheng Clean Energy Chemical Co., Ltd. Please note that although the investment for this pilot project for polyethylene wax is only 6.5 million yuan, with an annual production capacity of 86.4 tons, its strategic significance far exceeds these figures alone. This project involves technical upgrades to the existing POR pilot plant; by adding solvent recovery, product separation and drying units, as well as equipment for the collection and treatment of organic waste gases, a complete pilot production line for polyethylene wax is established. Its core value lies in the synthetic route that employs direct polymerization of ethylene monomer; compared to waxes produced as by-products of traditional polyethylene production and waxes obtained through cracking, it enables the production of products with a narrow molecular weight distribution, high purity, and stable quality. Against the backdrop of the current situation where high-end synthetic polyethylene waxes are entirely dependent on imports, this technological breakthrough is of great significance in filling the gap in the domestic market. Meanwhile, a larger-scale industrial demonstration project for POR has also been launched. This project, with a total investment of around 1.32 billion yuan, will establish a production capacity of 35,000 tons per year of polyolefin elastomers. POR technology breaks the traditional notion that polyethylene can only be used as plastic; by employing innovative metal-organic catalysts and \"molecular tailoring\" techniques, it creates new types of polyethylene elastomers that can be used as rubber. This material boasts excellent mechanical properties, a wide operating temperature range, resistance to heat and oxygen aging, as well as high light transmittance, making it highly suitable for various applications in industries such as automobiles, construction, and home appliances. There is a deep level of synergy and connection between the two projects. The pilot scale production of polyethylene wax made full use of the 100-ton pilot plant already available in the POR project, demonstrating an innovative approach to resource sharing and technical integration. Such collaboration not only reduces R&D costs but also accelerates the transition of technology from the laboratory to industrial application.
