Shanxi Jinnan Iron and Steel Group’s “steel-coking-hydrogen” integrated project

The \"Steel-Coking-Hydrogen\" integration project of Shanxi Jinan Iron and Steel Group introduces a new model for reducing carbon emissions through the integration of four different industries. Utilizing waste gases from steel production and coking as raw materials, this project produces 300,000 tons of ethylene glycol and 150,000 tons of liquefied natural gas per year, thereby achieving carbon sequestration through chemical processes”； The by-produced hydrogen is used for hydrogen-based smelting in blast furnaces, and can also serve as fuel for hydrogen fuel cell trucks, thereby achieving carbon reduction through hydrogen. Its indicators such as comprehensive electricity consumption per ton of steel and carbon emissions are far below the industry average, with carbon emissions being only 77% of the industry average. This project serves as a model for the transformation of traditional steel enterprises, and Linfen City also plans to use it as a catalyst to develop the largest hydrogen energy industry cluster in Shanxi Province.
