Leveraging CNPC’s advantages in upstream resources and refining technologies, as well as the favorable geographical location of Tongzhou Bay, this project will initially focus on the development of high-end polyolefin materials, which is of great significance for promoting the advancement of the petrochemical industry in the Yangtze River Delta region in terms of sophistication, intelligence, and sustainability. It is reported that construction of this project began in full scale in September 2024. The port project under construction will feature the construction of a new liquefied hydrocarbon berth with a capacity of 50,000 tons; the berth is 300 meters long, and its designed annual handling capacity is 1.1 million tons, which can be increased to 2.3 million tons in later stages of implementation. Throughout the progress of the port project, the Nantong Maritime Safety Bureau provided proactive support, injecting \"maritime momentum\" into the efficient construction of the project. Active support was provided for the revised planning plan for the Tongzhou Bay operation area of the Nantong Port Tongzhou Bay terminal, which was approved jointly by the ministry and the province. A special task force was established to provide support services; efforts were made to establish contact with the construction and contracting units, review meetings were organized, and guidance was provided to optimize the construction plans as well as the measures for ensuring navigation safety. At the same time, it supports the geological surveys for the wharves and the channel dredging projects, helping to advance the construction of the Xiaomiao Hongshang channel by 80%, thus laying a solid foundation for the smooth commencement of wharf construction. Going forward, the Nantong Maritime Bureau will continue to leverage its professional expertise to provide full support for the construction of such major projects, thereby contributing to the high-quality development of Nantong’s coastal economy and offering strong backing for the advancement of regional industries as well as the development of energy and material supply systems.
