On December 15, the results of the tender for the PC general contracting of the supporting project for Yanchang Petroleum’s project to improve the recovery rate of its million-ton-old oil fields (the project related to integrated carbon dioxide capture, storage, and utilization technologies for million-ton-scale low-permeability tight oil reservoirs) were announced. Winner of the bid: Sinopec Chemical Engineering Construction Co., Ltd. Project Overview and Scope of Bidding: This project involves the construction of a new CO2 capture unit within the Yulin Coal Chemical Plant complex in Yan’an. The processing capacity is 1.6 million Nm3/day, which corresponds to an annual CO2 treatment volume of around 900,000 tons. The CO2 capture unit is installed in the reserved area to the north of the methanol Unit 2 facility within the Yunchang China Coal Yueneng Chemical Plant. The feed gas consists of CO2-rich gas (with a CO2 concentration of >97%) produced by the low-temperature methanol washing units in Units 1 and 2. After being pressurized and dehydrated in the CO2 capture unit, this gas is sent through CO2 transport pipelines to three injection areas downstream: Yangmijian in Jingbian, Tianciwan, and Ziziping in Xingzichuan, where it is used for EOR oil enhancement. The project mainly involves the construction of 1 new Yulin capture and pressurization station, along with associated works such as site layout and transportation, piping installation, power supply and distribution, automatic control, communication systems, fire protection, water supply and drainage, building construction, structural engineering, thermal systems, HVAC, corrosion prevention, and intelligent systems. The utility systems and auxiliary facilities (nitrogen, instrument air, steam, condensate water, production wastewater, fire protection, etc.) rely on the existing systems at the Yanchang China Coal Yueneng Chemical Plant. This tender relates to: (001) the supervision work for the capture phase of the project aimed at improving the recovery rate of the existing oil fields operated by Yanchang Petroleum, a project that involves the use of integrated carbon dioxide capture, storage, and utilization technologies for low-permeability tight oil reservoirs on a scale of one million tons. This project is a key integrated initiative launched by Yanchang Petroleum to address the characteristics of old oil fields in the Ordos Basin, which are characterized by low porosity, low permeability, and low pressure; it aims to promote low-carbon development in the coal chemical industry as well as green development of tight oil and gas reservoirs. The core logic is to capture the carbon dioxide emitted by coal chemical parks, transport it to old oil fields, and inject it underground. This not only reduces the viscosity of crude oil thereby increasing recovery rates but also enables the geological sequestration of carbon dioxide, which aligns with the \"dual carbon\" goals; at the same time, it addresses the issue of declining production from old oil fields resulting from conventional extraction methods.
