On December 19, **the Jiangsu Huadian Ganyu LNG receiving station project, which is a key initiative for the interconnection of natural gas infrastructure and a major project under the 14th Five-Year Plan for the integration of the Yangtze River Delta region, completed the construction of a critical milestone; the pneumatic jacking operation to raise the roof of Tank No. 2 was carried out successfully. The pneumatic jacking operation of the roof of Tank No. 2 that was completed this time is one of the most technically challenging tasks in the construction of LNG tanks. The dome of the storage tank has a diameter of 88 meters, weighs over 900 tons, and its elevation is nearly 43 meters; its area is equivalent to that of a standard football field. The project team applied construction methods and patented technologies with entirely independent intellectual property rights in China, and utilized an advanced fully automatic lifting and measuring control system for the arch tops of large storage tanks. This enabled breakthroughs in construction that featured high precision, high efficiency, and high safety, with the overall technology reaching international leading levels. The Lianyungang Ganyu LNG receiving station project calls for the construction of 3 large-scale storage tanks; once all of them are in operation, it will be able to transport 4.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year, accounting for approximately 13.7% of Jiangsu Province’s annual consumption. At the same time, it can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 30 million tons per year, and it also helps to boost the development of industries in the upstream and downstream sectors, thereby providing strong impetus for the regional transition toward a green and low-carbon economy. Currently, the first storage tank of this project has officially entered the stage of interior tank installation, with commissioning expected to take place in 2027.
