Recently, the Luzhou Ecology and Environment Bureau issued a decision regarding the approval of the environmental impact assessment report for the “Luzhou Lanze 100,000 tons/year biomass-based sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) demonstration project”. Project Name: Luzhou Lanze 100,000 tons/year Biomass-based Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Production Pilot ProjectConstruction Unit: Luzhou Lanze Energy Technology Co., Ltd.

The total investment for this project is 3.5 billion yuan; it involves the construction of a production facility capable of producing 100,000 tons/year of biomass-based sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), along with associated auxiliary facilities. Using materials such as distillers’ grains, bamboo powder, and wood chips, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) is produced through processes including gasification, purification, Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, and oil processing, with naphtha, sulfur, and composite carbon sources for water treatment as by-products. The production facilities mainly include an air separation unit, a biomass baking and grinding unit, a gasification unit, a purification unit, and an SAF unit (including Fischer-Tropsch synthesis and oil processing). The main product is aviation kerosene (SAF), with a designed production capacity of 100,000 tons per year. On July 8, 2025, Shanghai Lanze Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Lanze Energy”) signed a project cooperation agreement with the People’s Government of Hejiang County, Luzhou City, Sichuan Province. Lanze Energy’s 100,000 tons per year industrial demonstration project for producing green aviation fuel from biomass was officially launched in Hejiang County. The project will utilize the FTO synthetic jet fuel distillate technology independently developed by Lanze Energy.
