The four main transformers for the Ningxia Coal MTP project have been installed

According to a report from Guoneng Group Ningxia Coal Industry in March 2026, the upgrading project for the company’s MTP process technology recently saw the four main transformers in the 110kV substation successfully lifted into place, laying a solid foundation for the substation to begin operating in the second half of the year. Ningxia Coal Industry Company currently uses the German Lurgi MTP methanol-to-propylene technology to produce polypropylene. The technological upgrade of the MTP process involves adopting the DMTO-III upgrade scheme developed by the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics; this includes building a new set of facilities for producing 3.6 million tons of DMTO and olefins, as well as one facility for producing 100,000 tons per year of EVA, one facility for producing 300,000 tons per year of LDPE, one facility for producing 300,000 tons per year of HDPE, and one facility for producing 15,000 tons per year of butene-1.
