Power supply to the gasification/purification/sulfur recovery/polypropylene substation of the China Coal Yulin project

According to Sinochem Second Construction, on March 28, 2026, the gasification substation of the second phase of the Zhongmei Shaanxi Energy Coal Chemical Project, operated by the Northwest Branch, successfully received its power supply, marking the official entry of the project into the power commissioning phase. On March 29, the modular lifting of the coal slurry feed connection to the gasification framework truss was successfully completed, marking the successful integration of the two core units: coal slurry preparation and the gasification framework. According to Jingchu Net, from March 22 to 26, the purification, sulfur recovery, water treatment systems, and the four substations of the Unipol polypropylene plant in the China Coal Yulin Coal Deep Processing Base project, which were constructed under the EPC contract by Wuhuan Company, successfully received power for the first time. This provided a stable power supply for subsequent individual unit tests, instrument calibration, and joint testing of the entire plant, marking the official start of the testing phase for the project. The China Coal Yulin Coal Deep Processing Base project uses coal as raw material and AP (GE) coal slurry pressurized gasification to produce 2.2 million tons per year of methanol, which is then further processed to yield 750,000 tons per year of olefins. In addition, 166,000 tons per year of liquid propylene is obtained from existing plants, resulting in an annual production of 350,000 tons of polyethylene and 550,000 tons of polypropylene. At the same time, the existing phase of the project will be optimized and upgraded to build a 250,000-ton/year LDPE/EVA chain extension and enhancement facility along with supporting infrastructure.
