Itai Yili Coal-to-Oil Plant completes lifting of all major Class A equipment; completion by year’s end per CCCC plans

From April 7 to April 12, 2026, Shaanxi Huajian Lifting Company successfully completed the lifting of two primary cycle heat exchange and separation units as well as two secondary cycle heat exchange and separation units for the Yitai Ili 1 million tons per year coal-to-oil project; these units weighed a total of nearly 1,700 tons. This marked the early completion, by 6 days, of the lifting work for all the large-scale equipment of Class A (with a weight of over 200 tons) in this project. According to the WeChat official account of Huairou in Beijing, the Yitai Ili 1 million tons per year coal-to-oil demonstration project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026, with production starting in 2027. The Yitai Ili Energy 1 million tons per year coal-to-oil project uses local coal as raw material, employing the multi-nozzle water-coal slurry gasification technology developed by East China University of Science and Technology, as well as the coal-to-oil technology invented by Sinocat Synthetic Oil Company. It produces a total of 1.0582 million tons per year of products such as alkylbenzenes, high-carbon alcohols, high-quality light hydrocarbons, FTO waxes, n-C10-14 compounds, white oils, liquid paraffins, and liquefied petroleum gas; meanwhile, by-products such as mixed alcohols and sulfur are also generated. The 1 million tons per year coal-to-oil demonstration project commenced construction in June 2011. By the end of 2022, a total investment of 7.11 billion yuan had been made. Resuming work in February 2025.
