On the morning of April 28, 2026, at the project launch site in Jilin City, representatives from Honeywell and companies such as Jilin Cornell New Energy Co., Ltd. jointly pressed the start button – marking the official initiation of the project to produce 300,000 tons of sustainable aviation fuel per year.
It is reported that once the project is fully operational, it will generate annual sales revenue of around 7.5 billion yuan, with tax payments reaching 1 billion yuan. Song Zhiping, chairman of Jilin Cornell Group, explained that this project located in the Jilin Economic Development Zone takes advantage of the company’s existing methanol-to-olefins plants. By utilizing the eFiningTM methanol-to-aeronautical fuel process technology developed by Honeywell, and using green methanol as raw material, it achieves a transition from coal-based chemical manufacturing to green energy production.
The core technical advantage of this project lies in its efficient emission reduction; compared to other comparable technologies, it also enables the production of sustainable aviation fuel at high yields and low costs. Compared to conventional aviation fuel, the sustainable aviation fuel produced by this process can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and it can be used directly in combination with traditional aviation fuel without the need to modify existing aviation infrastructure.
Once the project is launched, it can simultaneously promote the coordinated development of the upstream and downstream green chemical industry chains. In the future, the project will also take advantage of the abundant biomass resources in the Northeast region, as well as renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power, to further expand the green industrial chain.
