On May 16, the Air Separation and Thermal Power Department of Guoneng Xinjiang Coal-to-Gas Company successfully completed the lifting of the lower section of the crude argon column, the first tower in the coal-to-gas project’s air separation unit. It is reported that the crude argon column is the core distillation unit in the argon production system based on air separation. The lower section of this column weighs 22,600 kg; it is responsible for the distillation and separation of oxygen and argon, maintaining stable operating conditions in the main column, and recovering rare gases. It directly determines the purity of oxygen, nitrogen, and argon products as well as the long-term safety and stability of the facility. It is a key piece of equipment for ensuring the supply of process gases throughout the plant and for improving the overall economic efficiency of the project. The project team prepared a specialized lifting plan and emergency response plan in advance, carried out flaw detection and inspection of the cranes and rigging, laid the road base slab, and verified the bearing capacity of the foundation. At the same time, hard perimeter barriers are established, obstacles to operations are removed, it is ensured that all workers are certified to perform their tasks, and special safety and technical briefings are conducted.
