The caprolactam department of the company has mobilized professional technicians and key team members to conduct a thorough inspection of the newly built facility, laying a solid foundation for the mechanical completion of the project by the end of June, its delivery at high standards in accordance with requirements, and the commencement of trial operations in September. The Hunan Petrochemical Biomass Gasification Flexible Platform project utilizes the pressurized circulating fluidized bed (SFBG) and gas-fluidized bed (SEBG) biomass gasification technologies independently developed by Sinopec. It involves the construction of a biomass gasification unit with a capacity of 100 tons per day using the gas-fluidized bed technology, as well as another unit with a capacity of 150 tons per day using the fluidized bed technology, thereby creating a flexible testing platform that supports experiments using multiple bed types and various feedstocks. The syngas produced by the project is fed into a synthesis unit to produce liquid ammonia. According to the official Sina Finance account, as of the end of 2025, Hunan Petrochemical has applied for patents for the partial carbonization of biomass along with its co-gasification with coal. The patent involves carbonizing part of the biomass first and then gasifying it together with coal in a certain ratio; this not only improves the utilization rate of biomass but also ensures that all parameters of the resulting coal slurry are within normal ranges, thus maintaining the energy density of the gas product while reducing coal consumption and carbon emissions.
