To add, could it be that during the shutdown for cleaning, debris and rust accumulated in this area, causing the impeller to get stuck? When the reason is unknown, it is not recommended to force the rotor to turn, as this can easily damage the impeller.
Can’t it turn in the opposite direction either? I’m not familiar with your process media. From what I’ve encountered, there are roughly the following possibilities: 1. The medium is prone to solidification, and the heating system isn’t working properly, which prevents the pump from rotating; blowing steam at it for a few minutes will melt the medium and allow the pump to start rotating again. 2. Impurities have passed through the filter and entered the pump casing, causing the impeller to get stuck, so the pump cannot rotate in either direction; in this case, it’s necessary to disassemble the pump for repair. 3. Prolonged lack of rotation has caused the moving parts to rust and stick together; depending on the severity of the issue, the pump can be rotated until it operates smoothly again, or it must be disassembled for inspection.
The alkali solution has crystallized, and the impeller and bearings are stuck together; do not try to rotate the shaft. Flush it with water or steam to liquefy the alkali before attempting to rotate the shaft. The alkali pump must be rotated manually at the end of each shift; if it is not used for a long time, it will seize up.
The opposite direction is also heavy and noisy; the medium is an alkaline solution with strong corrosiveness
