The main problem with our Siemens WINCC/PCS7 system is that the historical trends disappear after it has been running for a while, and it needs to be restarted to function properly. Additionally, data archiving normally has two destinations: computer hard drives and NAS SERVERs. By design, under normal circumstances, the system stores only one month’s worth of historical trend data, with backups from more than a month ago stored on the NAS server (backup criteria can be set as needed). However, it seems that the backups in the NAS have been lost. Also, why do the trends in the system disappear abnormally? Why is a computer restart required for them to function properly? Is there any good solution?
It’s hard to say what caused it, but I can offer a suggestion on how to fix it. The WINCC backend uses a SQL Server database, and Microsoft databases come with built-in backup functions that allow for automatic database backups on a regular basis; this is one way to address the issue.
If no data is lost during the process of losing the trend and restarting it normally, it can be determined that there are no issues with the data acquisition and storage processes. What needs to be considered are the data extraction applications.
