How can one become a corrosion expert

Dear experts in corrosion: I am an engineer who works in the inspection and testing of chemical processing equipment, but I have always had a strong interest in the selection of materials for such equipment, as well as in corrosion and anti-corrosion issues. I’m thinking of focusing on development in this area going forward; could you give some advice? For example, how to get started, what to pay attention to at work, and so on. Thank you so much!

Zhong Qunpeng’s \"Fracture Mechanics\" and Ren Lingbo and Ren Xiaolei’s \"Corrosion and Control of Pressure Vessels\" are currently being read for the second time. I’ve also read API 571 twice; I’m planning to read it a third time before taking the exam in mid-August this year. But it seems that just reading without putting it into practice still leaves one feeling empty.
