In the pump industry, it is common to need to design pipelines for applications where the pressure required exceeds 35 MPa; in some cases, this pressure can reach 39 to 40 MPa. I have initially set the design pressure at 42 MPa. The flanges used are of 2500 lb class. What standards should be referenced in this industry? I’m having trouble with the strength calculations – I would be very grateful if experienced professionals could offer some guidance. C
According to stress analysis standards. There is no doubt about this.
China’s TSG R0002-2005 \"Regulations on Safety Supervision of Ultra-High Pressure Vessels\" – Comprehensive Book on Chemical Equipment Design
For high-pressure vessel design, analytical design is still the main approach. For analytical design, the standard currently used in China is JB4732-1995 (R2005) \"Steel Pressure Vessels – Standards for Analytical Design\". For high pressures, a cylinder in the form of multiple layers of wrapping may be required, in which case design standards for multi-layer containers apply. As far as I know, this standard is HG3129-1998 \"Integral Multi-Layer Clamped High-Pressure Containers\". Additionally, high-pressure vessels must undergo supervision and inspection, and must meet the relevant requirements of TSG R0004 \"Regulations on Safety Supervision of Fixed Pressure Vessels\".
Pipelines are relatively simple; there are ready-made formulas for calculating wall thickness, and pipeline components can be selected directly from standards
The design standards include the analytical design standard JB 4732-1995 (revised edition in 2005), as well as corporate standards developed by individual companies (which only need to be registered with the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine). The relevant regulation is TSG R0004-2009; both the analytical design and the design standards for pressure vessels specify that the maximum design pressure should be less than 100 MPa. Therefore, vessels with a pressure not exceeding 100 MPa can be designed in accordance with these standards
For projects abroad, ASME VIII-Section 2 can be used for design; this has been used for design before. There are also high-pressure standards in the API, but I’m not familiar with them
