You need to check where the backwash water comes from In the case of coking or catalytic processes, it is also necessary to check whether there are recovery storage tanks. If not, recovery is not possible; if such tanks do exist, and the liquid does not contain oil, it can be directly discharged into the sewer system to the wastewater treatment plant. If the liquid contains oil, it needs to be collected and separated through sedimentation before being sent to the acidic water gas treatment unit in the sulfur processing facility for further treatment. In fact, the backwash water you mentioned can be recycled and treated – it refers to the cold coking water from coking units, as well as the condensate from the vent return tank. If it is the backwash water from the acidic gas unit itself, the issue can be resolved by performing a reflux after sedimentation and separation.
The main characteristics of this backwash water are: low volume, high concentration, and it contains solid impurities such as sediment as well as floating oil; it’s not clear how to deal with it!
On our side, we have storage tanks, or the bottom of these tanks is equipped with external pump systems that deliver the material directly to the sulfur recovery unit for processing.
