Dear sea friends, we have encountered a problem with our unit: the ball valve at the outlet of the cyclohydrogen machine cannot be closed properly (even when fully closed, internal leakage is severe). The ball valve feels very loose when tried to turn it (it should be quite heavy under normal conditions). I would like to know what could be causing this issue and how to address it I hope experienced sea travelers can give some guidance. Thank you!
It’s possible that your PTFE gasket is severely worn, or that the gasket at the part where the ball valve is secured is loose. It would help to know what type of ball valve you have – one with 4 screws, or a regular ball valve. If it’s a regular ball valve, there’s a part on one end that can be tightened; check to see if such a part is included, one with threads inside
Logically speaking, the sealing performance of the ball valve is considered satisfactory; could it be that the quality of the ball valve itself is substandard?
I guess the spherical seal gasket is damaged; find a way to disassemble and inspect the ball valve.
In this case, it’s definitely the spherical PTFE gasket that’s damaged. Repairing it is quite troublesome; the height of the spherical gasket must be appropriate, otherwise there will be leaks on the outside or inside, or the valve core might be too tight to move at all
Is it a track ball valve? Ordinary valves usually develop internal leakage after being used a few times
The ball valve I’m talking about is the DN150 type; it has been in use for over 6 years
Is it a track valve or a regular ball valve? Please be more specific
