Standard 6.1.1 for new oil storage facilities stipulates that for storing Class A-B liquids with a boiling point below 45°C or a saturated vapor pressure greater than 88 kPa, pressure tanks, low-pressure tanks, or low-temperature atmospheric-pressure tanks shall be used, and the following requirements must be met: 1 When using pressure tanks or low-pressure tanks, measures must be taken to prevent air from entering the tanks, and the gases discharged from these tanks must be collected and treated accordingly. 2 When selecting storage tanks at low temperature and normal pressure, one of the following measures should be taken: 1) For internal floating roof storage tanks, a nitrogen sealing system should be installed, and the storage temperature should be controlled so that the vapor pressure of the liquid does not exceed 88 kPa ; 2) When fixed-roof storage tanks are used, a nitrogen sealing protection system should be installed, and the storage temperature should be kept 5°C or lower than the liquid’s flash point. Why are only Class A and B specified? I think the flash point of Class B A is also below 45°C, and its properties are similar to those of Class A and B, so it should also be included. Additionally, how was the value of 88 Kpa for vapor pressure determined?
What is involved here is a boiling point of 45°C.
”The flash point is also below 45°C, and the boiling point is below 45°C – there is a fundamental difference between the two!
I think the flash point of Category B A substances is also below 45°C; flammable substances of Category B A with a boiling point below 45°C are equally dangerous and should also be included
Those with low hazard as mentioned in Category B analog standards are not included here; for substances with a flash point of less than 45°C, their boiling point is much higher than 45°C.
