In October 2014, at a coking company in Hunan, the 2x65-chamber 5.5-meter coke ovens were operating at full capacity. By shutting down the ground stations on the machine side, it was possible to carry out coal charging without any smoke, while also achieving effective control of oxygen levels and maintaining pressure balance. The recovery rate of smoke generated during coal charging was 100%, with a smoke-free rate of over 90%. The annual operating costs associated with the ground stations alone could be saved by more than 2 million yuan, thereby challenging the long-held belief that coke ovens larger than 5.5 meters in size necessarily required side-suction ground stations in order to eliminate smoke at the furnace head. A major breakthrough has been achieved.
