I would like to ask experts: Are there any requirements regarding the carbon dioxide content in the feed gas for low-temperature methanol washing? If so, what level should it reach? Can a low-temperature methanol washing unit be used for about 10% carbon dioxide? Is the cooling capacity provided by carbon dioxide sufficient? Thank you!
There are requirements, but the scope is relatively broad; the design institute needs to carry out a detailed design based on the gas composition of the previous system
Low-temperature methanol washing places no requirements on the carbon dioxide content; it merely depends on the volume of methanol circulating. The cooling capacity provided by carbon dioxide is absolutely insufficient, so external cooling sources are necessary, such as ammonia coolers or combined systems that incorporate liquid nitrogen washing/air separation
The process gas production from water-coal slurry is an endothermic reaction; therefore, some of the coal must burn completely to supply the necessary heat. Solid carbon dioxide will not be low. We are around thirty to forty percent. As for carbon dioxide from coal powder gas production, it should be lower; the exact amount is not known. With a high amount of acidic gases in the system, less circulation is required because the temperature can drop. Energy consumption is lower. No matter what your carbon dioxide level is, you need to use a refrigerant. It’s just a matter of power level.
