Our company plans to shut down the sulfuric acid production process (for at least 1 year). If anyone has documents such as shutdown and maintenance plans, please share them :) It’s okay if there’s no option to produce sulfuric acid using pyrite either
No corrosion in 1 year is really remarkable! Maintenance involves minimizing corrosion of the equipment and pipelines. In the purification and conversion process, sulfur dioxide must be removed and the system kept sealed and dry. The absorption process is aimed at preventing the passivation layer from being damaged, with the system maintained dry; acid should be added when possible, and if that’s not feasible, a cycle of adding concentrated acid should be carried out regularly, and the liquid level in the storage tanks should not remain constant.
Equipment that can be cleaned should be cleaned; some pipelines and equipment need to be sealed to prevent air from entering and causing corrosion.
There are many methods; mainly, the boiler, flue gas pipelines, catalyst, and acid coolers need to be protected separately, with desiccants and blind plates playing an important role.
