The purpose of the butane stripping column is to separate C4 from C5 or heavier components, but the C4 components are not necessarily butane; they also include unsaturated alkanes. Then why is it called a butane stripping column?
The stabilizer column of a catalytic unit is also known as a butane removal column; its purpose is to remove the liquefied gas components from crude gasoline. Since these liquefied gas components are mainly C3 and C4 compounds, and butane is a representative of such compounds, it is therefore called a butane removal column.

The original poster is being too pedantic; it’s fine to use most substances as representatives!
Alkanes with four carbon atoms or fewer are removed to control the saturated vapor pressure of gasoline. The original poster has memorized textbook knowledge rigidly; be more flexible.
