The transformer neutral wire is grounded; at the distribution cabinet, the neutral wire is connected to the cabinet’s enclosure and grounded, while at the electrical equipment, the neutral wire is connected to the equipment’s enclosure. Is there any problem with wiring it this way? One more question: is there a difference between connecting the working neutral wire to the neutral terminal of the electrical device and connecting it to the device’s casing?

At the transformer end, the neutral wire is connected to ground. Due to the certain resistance in the neutral wire from the transformer to the user’s end, the voltage between the neutral wire and ground at the user’s end is often not zero. If there is no ground wire, and a fault occurs in an electrical appliance such that the neutral or live wire comes into contact with the appliance’s metal casing, then the voltage between the appliance and ground will be non-zero, which is unsafe. In such a situation, if the neutral wire is disconnected, it becomes extremely dangerous. A ground wire is a wire that connects the device to the ground in the nearest location; under normal conditions, its voltage with respect to the ground is zero. A proper ground wire is connected to the metal casing of electrical appliances, and in the event of a fault with the appliance, it ensures that the voltage between the casing and the ground remains zero, thereby providing a safety mechanism. If the neutral wire and the ground wire are combined into one wire, and if this wire breaks while the switch of the electrical appliance is in the on position, even a normal electrical appliance can become charged throughout its casing, which is extremely dangerous. Therefore, when using electrical appliances with metal casings, in addition to connecting the live wire and neutral wire, it is necessary to ground the casing for safety reasons.
