On June 17, 2015, it was reported that the project titled \"Key Technologies for Geological Sequestration of Carbon Dioxide\", which falls under the advanced energy technology category of the 863 Program and is jointly undertaken by Northwest University and Yanchang Petroleum Group, passed the on-site inspection conducted by experts organized by the High-Tech Research and Development Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology. The Qiaojiawa CCUS pilot demonstration area in Jingbian began operations in September 2012. By the end of May 2015, more than 40,000 tons of liquid CO2 had been injected into the Qiaojiawa oil field in Jingbian; the production of some of the wells that benefited from this treatment increased by more than twice, and all targets set for evaluation were exceeded.
