Regarding this specification, the wiring we designed uses steel pipes to carry the signals from the instrument junction boxes to the instrument locations; previously, grid frames were used for this purpose. I’m currently using a galvanized steel pipe supervision card, and they’re asking me to use explosion-proof union fittings. What should I do? Also, the instrument cables are all intrinsically safe. I think this specification is quite unreasonable – why should the acceptance criteria for instruments follow those for electrical systems?

For the galvanized steel pipes coming out of the instrument junction box, ordinary union fittings are sufficient; there is no need for explosion-proof versions, as the instrument junction box itself is not completely sealed
The picture should be available on Baidu. Common sizes are 100*50 and 200*100. It is a grid structure made by welding thin steel bars around 5 mm in diameter, which is then galvanized; the spacing between these bars is approximately 5 cm. Nowadays, many instruments use such grid structures at the branch points. Save steel. It’s cheap and very light.
Currently, explosion-proof materials are more expensive than ordinary galvanized materials, and slip knots cost several times as much. Moreover, these regulations provide a basis for supervisors to extort money and demands; we supervisors end up having no argument left when faced with such demands.
