There is a project currently in use that involves completely burning hydrogen sulfide in exhaust gases to produce sulfur dioxide; this sulfur dioxide is then converted into sulfur trioxide under the action of vanadium catalysts, and sulfuric acid is obtained by absorbing sulfur trioxide. One expert believes that the combustion reaction of hydrogen sulfide is a hazardous chemical process that requires close supervision, as part of the adjustments to the initial list of such processes, \"Claus process for sulfur production\" was added to the category of oxidation processes that are under strict monitoring. The Claus process also includes a step of burning hydrogen sulfide to produce sulfur dioxide. But I keep feeling it’s strange; if I were using natural gas, there surely wouldn’t be any such discussions. So why do we have questions when using hydrogen sulfide? Should it indeed be considered a hazardous chemical process that requires strict supervision?
We are Claus reactors for sulfur recovery, and we obtained the certification last year.

It’s a bit of a stretch to classify this process under the Claus process for desulfurization; however, hydrogen sulfide is one of the chemicals that are subject to strict monitoring, so control measures should be based on those requirements
