Control criterion for arsenic content in reformed naphtha: Arsenic (As) less than 1 ppb
It can’t be that low; 1 ppb? There’s no instrument accurate enough to measure that
1. IFP requires that the arsenic content in the reforming feed not exceed 5 ppb, while UOP requires it to be no more than 1 ppb. Considering arsenic as a permanent poison for reforming catalysts, the target level is generally set at <1 ppb. 2. For actual laboratory analysis results, values below 1 ppb can be reported; the analysis methods used include atomic absorption as well as ICP-MS. 3. As for the accuracy of the analysis results, if there are concerns in this regard, one can consider contacting a third-party inspection agency such as SGS to conduct another test on the same sample. However, it is necessary to determine in advance how significant the differences are between the inspection agency’s analysis methods and those used by one’s own laboratory, as well as between the instruments used.
