What 3D software is good for non-standard static equipment?

My field often requires the design of custom equipment, mainly steel-structured tanks. What kind of 3D software is suitable for this purpose? I’m currently using Inventor, and it seems quite complicated; it’s fine for creating concrete tanks, but it becomes very troublesome when dealing with circular or irregular shapes.
The original poster can give SolidWorks a try; actually, the experiences are more or less similar. Other software options include UG NX and those from Siemens, as well as Pro/E – but overall, Inventor seems to have the best compatibility.
Why does Inventor have the best compatibility, according to you?
After studying it for so long, it still seems extremely difficult to create a complete device. Would other software be simpler?
