We have built a new factory building, and many instruments for online monitoring of combustible gases have been installed in the workshops. We are now facing difficulties in calibrating these instruments, as there are various types of combustible gases present in our company’s workshops; we don’t know which standard gases to use for calibration. Could those of you with experience provide some guidance?
Calibration is carried out using standard gases of the same type as the gas being detected; if the type of gas to be detected is not specified, propane can be used for calibration.
The main components of the gas here are xylene, 200# solvent gasoline, **, ethanol, etc. The people from the detector manufacturer came and tried to handle it once, but later said that what they did did not meet the specifications. Now we don’t know what to do. Is there any relevant documentation or standards regarding calibration using propane? Could you share them?

This takes into account the cross-coefficient, and the cross-coefficient varies for each sensor; it is recommended to modify its cross-coefficient before calibration, and then use methane for calibration :)
Regarding the calibration of combustible gases and their selection, it depends on the production conditions. It is recommended to take an air sample at the location where a combustible gas needs to be added, and make the selection based on the current values.
