Gentlemen, does anyone use vortex suppressors at the tank outlet?
A port is generally added at the center of the lower head
Atmospheric pressure storage tanks usually have side outlets – aren’t they needed?
Storage tanks with side openings do exist, but vortex suppressors are generally not used
I’ve seen ones made of storage tanks, which prevent vortex formation and also remove foam.

Previously, storage tanks were equipped with vortex preventers; for fuels such as aviation kerosene, in order to obtain oil from a higher liquid level, the outlet pipe inside the tank would be bent 90 degrees upward, and vortex preventers were used to avoid vortex formation. Now there are floating arms for oil extraction from the upper part; this design is rarely used these days. Previously, tanks did not have drainage grooves; in order to draw as much oil as possible through the drainage pipes, anti-vortex plates were also installed. This is an old concept design from the 1980s.

It’s hardly needed anymore. Do we need to use it? We don’t need it at the moment; in airports, when tanks are used, oil is drawn from them using floating arms at the top
