The inlet temperature of the lean liquid to the flue gas absorption tower for sulfur recovery is 40°C, the temperature of the gas phase at the top of the absorption tower is 46°C, and the temperature of the gas before purification at the bottom of the tower is less than 40°C. Is a temperature increase of 6°C in the flue gas absorption tower normal?
Our installation is exactly the opposite of what you described: the temperature of the gas entering the tower is 39–40°C (as temperatures don’t drop much in summer), while the temperature of the liquid entering the tower is 35–38°C (keeping this temperature low is mainly to improve the efficiency of exhaust gas absorption). The temperature of the gas exiting the tower is not high, at around 36.7°C. The temperature rise is related to the hydrogen sulfide content in the gas phase as well as the concentration and flow rate in the liquid phase. A temperature rise of 6℃ is considered normal.
A temperature rise of 6℃ is quite high; which manufacturer’s MDEA is your organization using? The temperature rise for domestic products is not that high; otherwise, it is caused by a higher concentration of amine solution in your facility. A temperature rise of 6°C indicates that a large amount of hydrogen sulfide has been absorbed, which is a good sign, as long as it does not lead to an increase in sulfur dioxide levels in the exhaust gases.
