Hello! Clause 4.5.4.4(1) of the boiler code pertains to the requirements for the pressure-bearing components of boilers. The manhole ring falls under the category of pressure-bearing components of the boiler, as specified in clause 3.23.1(4) of the boiler regulations.
It should be understood that the welds used to join the manhole rings that are located outside the cylinder belong to non-compressed areas, while those parts of the manhole rings that are inside the cylinder are subjected to external pressure and thus are in a favorable stress condition. The weld at the connection point with the cylinder body is only as long as the thickness of the cylinder body, and fillet welds are present on both the inside and outside of the cylinder at this location, ensuring high safety. Neither the “Pot Regulations” nor JB/T1613 specify anything regarding this aspect, so enterprises should be able to refrain from conducting non-destructive testing
