Has anyone ever used such a device? I saw that one facility used it for vacuuming during ammonia purification; it used either a compressor or a reciprocating pump. I was confused because this seems to render the compressor useless. So I thought of adding a nitrogen line to the ammonia purification system so that gas can be replaced directly. I wonder what methods other professionals used in the past
Before 2002, starting from 1990, we also carried out ammonia purification using a process that involved crystallization, adsorption, compression, and subsequent desulfurization. At the beginning of operation, we concentrated the material by transferring it in three phases to the recovery tanks; the non-condensable gases were subsequently extracted using compressors (we have always used piston-type compressors), condensed into a liquid state, and then the non-condensable gases were discharged from the top of the liquid ammonia tank.
For the ammonia purification system, how do you carry out the replacement?
It should not have been replaced. At that time, our workshop didn’t have a nitrogen system.
The system needs to be purged with nitrogen to prevent the formation of explosive gases; the non-condensable gases should be drained from the liquid ammonia storage tank via the safety line into the acidic water tank!
