I’ve not really understood spray painting that well. What are the common pre-painting treatments for steel pipes after welding (such as seamless steel pipes, pipe flanges, and other welded components)? For example, I know of one company that performs sandblasting after welding… So, after sandblasting, what other treatments are done before painting? Solve!
Should we conduct tests for air humidity and salinity?
I don’t understand! I don’t think this place I know has it; is there any information available regarding air humidity and salt content?
I don’t know. Since paint is used for corrosion prevention, I can help you move it there to see if a more professional solution can be found. :handshake
There are two common types. One method is to perform sandblasting first, leaving a margin of 50-100 mm around the weld seam, applying two coats of primer, and then proceeding with the construction. The construction pressure testing is complete; the welds are descaled and primed, followed by uniform sealing at the joints and application of topcoat. One method is to complete the construction first, then carry out sandblasting for rust removal, and finally apply paint.
Thank you for finding your way while walking! I mainly work on the second type here. I’d like to ask again: Does the sandblasting and rust removal process you mentioned actually consist of two separate steps – sandblasting followed by rust removal? So, what is the most common method for rust removal?
Sandblasting is the method; rust removal is the goal. Sandblasting is a method for removing rust. There are also hand-held power tools for rust removal, such as electric wire wheel rust removers, as well as methods like shot blasting, zinc spraying, and chemical rust removal.
I roughly understand. So, what is generally done inside seamless steel pipes? For seamless steel pipes made of ordinary carbon steel, some anti-corrosion treatment should be applied, right? For example, the medium flowing inside is something like epoxy resin.
You will need to consult design or corrosion prevention experts for this.
