If gas-phase extraction is used for the side stream taken from the vacuum distillation tower, will it contribute to improving the purity of the oil? I would appreciate some expert advice
This question is quite bold. Taking product from the side stream of the vacuum distillation tower at the same tower temperature and number of trays is not conducive to oil separation, as when the product is taken out in the gas phase, it does not participate in the internal recirculation above those trays; thus, the internal recirculation in the upper part is reduced, which hinders oil separation.
Reflux serves as a purification process; without it, the purity is low
