Why is the catalyst in the tower installed in sections? Can’t it be installed all at once?

If it’s a gas, is it also secondary distribution?
Actually, I’ve only seen the secondary distributor in the gas phase. There is a lift pipe at the top of the packing, which then leads into a space without packing, and from there it goes to the next section of packing.

Multi-stage catalysts are beneficial for catalytic efficiency. Assume a catalytic conversion rate of 60% in the first stage, 60% in the second stage... The amount of material without catalysis = (1-60%) raised to the power of n; if there are four stages of conversion, the catalytic conversion rate reaches 98%
